How To Wrap A Turban In Just A Few Minutes

By Claudine MacDonald

One usually views turbans as pieces of cloth that Indian or Middle Eastern people wear because they are following some sort of tradition or because their religion tells them to. Well these days, it is not uncommon anymore to see ordinary people wearing turbans because it is now a fashion statement. In general, people from India, Middle East, Africa, Persia, and other countries wear this to promote equality. Today, people have adapted this into a stylish new look. If one would want to try out this style, he must first learn how to wrap a turban.

Regular turbans are usually made in special clothing stores. These special cloths can actually be quite expensive, so a long scarf will be a good alternative. If one does not have a long scarf, any long piece of cloth will do.

The first step would be to roll the scarf and put it behind the head. Do remember to roll it firmly so that it does not fall apart later on. After it has been rolled, stick it tightly behind the head and hold both ends with both hands steadily. The key in wrapping the cloth is making sure that it is wrapped tightly so that it looks nice.

Then he should take both ends of the scarf and put it at the front of his head. After that, he must cross the ends at the front and get ready to make a knot. Take note that the left end must always be on top of the right as it will make things easier in the next step.

Then, hold both ends steady and rotate them to the left until the middle would be twisted to create a knot. This step is a little bit difficult because if the twisting is not done right, the whole thing will just dismantle. If the left end is on top of the right, rotate them counter clockwise. If it is the other way around, then obviously, rotate it clockwise.

The last step would be to position the two ends in such a way that he can tie them at the back of his head. He has to be extra careful in this part because the turban can easily fall down. In order to prevent it from falling, quickly pull the ends tightly and tie a sturdy knot.

If he would want, he may pull the hanging ends forward to cover his hair. Doing this will actually make the turban look more authentic rather than a regular street style. Then the last thing that he should do is to hide the hanging parts somewhere in the corners of the headrest so that it cannot be seen.

For those who are interested in this style, this is probably the easiest way on how to wrap a turban (http://www.turbanizer.com) in a few minutes. Do take note that this method of wrapping is not the traditional style that most Arabs or Indians do. The traditional method is much longer, more difficult, and will take a while to actually finish.
