Converting to a different religion means that one will need to learn the ways and accept the teachings of a new belief. People have different reasons for having the urge to convert to something new like a religion. They can be serious about their relationship and want to cross over to their partner's belief, or a person can seek a new spiritual experience and throw themselves into studying the religion. Whatever the reasons, Jewish conversion has always been a hot topic of discussion, and has interested many people around the world for decades.
An interest in this religion can come from literature, attending a religious ceremony with a friend, having interested family members, renting a video and also at times it can be heard at a lecture. The reason for interest in converting to a religion does not matter; it always starts with exploring the particular religion. It can at times start out as simple curiosity.
Judaism is the known belief of Jewish people. The number of followers can be surprising as millions of people around the world are avid believers. There are several countries associated with this belief, some of them include the United States of America, the Soviet Union and of course Israel, but these are only a few.
To believe in one God is also a basic part of the this religion, as we were the first religions based on monotheism. Quite a few religions started out with Judaism. Jews suppose to be keen on converts, But they have proper knowledge of the religion and have accepted the laws.
The whole story behind this religion is that God and Abraham made a deal made a deal, which is now referred to as a covenant. Abraham is the ancestor of this religion. The agreement states that followers will receive love, protection and forgiveness, in return for them honoring the way of God.
The Messiah is believed to be the anointed one, and he will lead the Jewish people on earth. We do not bother with other religious beliefs; we are set upon following Judaism and are completely independent of other teachings.
Every congregation, although not all of them, have a spiritual leader called a rabbi, who is responsible for running the affairs, but unlike other religions, Judaism does not have a single international spiritual leader who would be the equivalent of the pope for example. This religion has its own universities established all over the world to train rabbis. Each congregation has its own traditions, rules and beliefs of what the Jewish law holds.
Children can also undergo a Jewish conversion, as in some families where the mother is not of the religion but the father is, the child will be considered a Jew and will engage in activities that relate to Judaism, although some congregations will not redeem the child as legally Jewish. Depending on the rules and laws of the specific congregation, parents of these children can convert them if they wish to do so. Some can convert by having a rabbi perform a naming ceremony and others will have to go through more physical measures such as circumcision.
