Some Individuals Expect A Muslim Antichrist

By Nelda Powers

Many Christians wonder whether or not there will eventually be a Muslim Antichrist. The traditional viewpoint within the majority of Christian churches is that this person will be of Roman or European descent. In all probability, this philosophy is based on a statement in one of the books of the Bible, Daniel, which calls this person a descendent of the people who destroyed the Temple. The latter proved to be Romans, who were recorded in the Bible as having destroyed the Temple in 70 A. D.

Eschatologists also have conflicting opinions with regard to whether or not this individual will try to claim he is a Jew or a Christian. Numerous individuals believe that John's Gospel refers to a Jewish Antichrist. Some people are of the opinion that he will have to be a Jew himself or at the very least masquerade as one in order to deceive the Jewish people and gain acceptance among this race.

Other individuals have based their theories on certain verses in the Bible that seem to indicate that a non-Jewish person will be the anti-Christ. For example, in the last book of the Bible, which is called the Revelation, this individual is depicted as a beast that arises "from the water." When that phrase is used other times throughout the Scriptures, it is always used to describe a "Gentile nation."

As a third argument, many people believe that the Antichrist will be a Muslim. This is currently the newest and most popular school of thought. It may have caught on in today's modern world due to the awakening of Islam, and the revival of the territorial goal of Muslims to conquer the world for Allah.

Various books have been written on the subject by knowledgeable eschatologists. In one such book, the author asserts that the anti-Christ will be a Muslim and offers a biblical foundation for this theory. Other books also allude to this philosophy without overtly referencing Muslims.

Due to the fact that the Bible also gives reference to a false prophet who works with the Antichrist, some individuals believe that one will be a Muslim, while the other will be Jewish. Still other people believe that both individuals will be of Roman or European descent, as mentioned above.

There are many conflicting opinions about this topic, and therefore numerous Christians have completed their own research on the subject. Of course, not everyone has come to the same conclusion concerning whether or not the Antichrist will be a Muslim. However, anyone who has completed such research has likely found that a study project of this type is both rewarding and interesting.

It remains to be seen if a Muslim Antichrist will eventually enter the world. Virtually all Christians agree that we are living in the end times, even if conflicting theories arise about the aforementioned topic. Ultimately, Christians must wait and watch, and do everything possible to hear God's direction concerning who can and cannot be trusted in today's modern world. Because no person knows precisely when this dreaded individual will first appear, all Christians are wise to pray about such matters on a regular basis.
