The Christian Life

By Les Hazleton

Did you know that if you are born again, you are part of a royal family? It doesn't matter what your background is, the color of your skin, or which side of the tracks you grew up on. Jesus has leveled the playing field for each and every person who chooses to accept Him as Lord and Savior. When we become followers of Christ, something supernatural takes place in our spirits; we are re-created spiritually and have access to everything heaven has to offer. Our job is to renew our minds to the new identity we have received through Christ. christian t shirts

God wants us to trust Him, and confidence is the key. Hebrews 10:35 says, "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward." There is an empowerment to prosper that is released in the lives of those who stand firm on the Word and in their right-standing with God. On the other hand, those who do not trust in God usually end up lacking the things they desire and what God wants to give them. christian apparel

After the salvation experience, we must enter into the process of renewing our minds so our thinking will begin to line up with the conversion we have experienced. As our thoughts about ourselves change through continual study and application of God's Word, we will begin to see ourselves differently, and consequently, we will begin to act differently. The things we used to do, we just won't be able to do any more. Have you ever heard of a king cussing someone out when others made him angry?

How do we develop confidence in the unseen realm? Well, begin by spending time in God's presence through studying, meditating on, and confessing His Word. We can always gauge our confidence levels in God by asking ourselves this question: "When adversity comes, do I stand strong in the Word, or do I immediately become frustrated and scared, then cave in and quit?" If your first response to challenging circumstances is to panic and become fearful, this is an indication that confidence in God must be developed more. Finally, we must decide to get sin out of our lives. Keep in mind that God doesn't lay ground rules for living because He is mean or harsh.

Once that decision is made it is supported by an ongoing commitment to renew our minds to the thoughts, purposes, and ways of God. Jesus was a man who walked in love, compassion, and purpose. He did the will of His heavenly Father. Jesus showed us that even though we are human, we can demonstrate the power of God in our lives and reach other people in a profound way. By becoming like Him we can make a mark in this world that can never be erased.
