The Multitude of Nations

By Jim Staley

The blessing carries on in Ephraim and Manassah. Grand daddy Jacob goes to lay hands on Manassah who is Joseph's first born in Egypt at that time. Jacob now lives in Israel using Joseph and he will probably bless his grandsons and he will almost certainly start with the first born. So Joseph provides Manassah up and Jacob says no, Ephraim is the person who is going to get the blessing and it goes like this...

Gen 48:19 "and his father refused, "I know my son, I know. He also (talking about Manassah) shall become a great people, he shall great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants will be as a multitude of nations." We are going to focus on this term, multitude of nations because this is going to be literally one of the most important phrases that can be found in your bible. The term multitude of nations in Hebrew is "melo ha' goyim". It means the "Fullness of the Gentiles".

To begin with, the word gentile means from covenant. So if you think that you are a gentile Christian this means that you are an out of agreement Christian. I would not boast about that. Second of all, this is incredible if you glance at the story line because Jacob is laying his hand on his grandson Ephraim saying he will be a fullness of the gentiles. He is going to be a bunch of out of covenant individuals, and that was the verse is really stating.

Ephraim who is now having the first born true blessing of the "House of Israel" that's going to be a multitude of countries! It is going to be crucial as we go through this specific article. The Israelites commenced in Canaan then wherever did they go? They will went to Egypt. Next, where did these people end up? They finished up back in Canaan.

If you would think like a prophet would, you must look, have your eyes and your ears constantly keen to the reports that are found in your own bible because as the Christian growing up inside my local congregation I became always taught that this old testament just by mere nature is old and has nothing to use the Sabbath day and the new testament by the fact we are using terminology is new. In order a young boy who wants everything new as well as fast, it planted in my mind that the Old Testament doesn't have any value. But as I start to read in front of the book I begin to realize that every single story that is found in the bible is approximately me and my Messiah and when He comes back. I just should listen and I need to hear.
