If you read the Bible, there is a part of the book of chronicles that speaks of David, the Levites, and making music. Everybody knows David as that young shepherd boy who killed the blaspheming giant, Goliath. You should know that David is also a king and one of the things that he ordered his people to do was to make the best kind of music that they possibly can.
When people worship God in the church, they also sing songs of praise. The thing about churches these days is that music makes the activities that people engage in better by some degree. The thing about music is that it starts preparing people for their encounter with the Lord through prayer.
What most Christians fail to remember, however, is that creating music for the Lord is also a command. Making music is not an activity that you do when you feel like it. It is not an option that one may skip when the emotions are not right or the circumstances uncomfortable.
For the Levites or priests of King David, there is a specific reason why he ordered them to create the best music that they could. You should know that King David and his people were in possession of the Ark of the Covenant. According to several verses in the Bible, the Levites consecrated themselves and made an effort to carry the Ark of the Covenant on their shoulders using a couple of poles.
Reverence is something that should be present when the ark is present because the ark is God's presence in the world. Apart from making a musical offering, they should also offer themselves up to the Lord according to King David. When people come before the presence of the Lord in worship, they should offer God praises and lift up their spirits through Christian music.
You might be wondering what forms of consecration the priests got into and what kind of music they played. Serious methods were considered by the Levites when they consecrated themselves to the Lord according to the Bible. In the Scriptures, you will find regulations ordered by God and these have to be followed by Christians to the best of their abilities.
When it comes to the music, since there is the Christian way of consecrating yourself to the Lord, what is the ideal type of music that you should offer to the Lord? As much as possible, you need multiple instruments when making music for the Lord. You have to make and offer music that is extremely joyful.
Aside from lyres and harps, cymbals made of bronze were also used to create music in the book of Chronicles. While the melody played, the priests dealt with a lot of singing. And those that performed the music were "skillful at it".
The thing about worship through song is that it calls for a certain amount of effort from the worshipper. Because of this, rehearsals can never be absent from the picture. Considering the fact that a lot of work needs to be put into the creation of music for the Lord, there are professional artists these days that cater to the needs of Christians.
The thing about giving God praise is that it is highly relevant these days and this is why a genre has been dedicated to it so the next time someone teaches you Christian music (http://blog.bizeso.com/BlogDetail.aspx?bid=9eedbe9e-3322-4241-a487-662d23b83d85) , pay attention. Because of the way that these songs can cater to people may they be in church or not, this type of music has really become an essential part of our existence. You can talk to God whenever and wherever you are and this is why God's music is not limited to playtime during masses.
