Worrying too much is a problem for everyone, even those with strong faith and a church background. The scriptures say that fear is not of the Lord. That's why there are so many Bible verses on anxiety to provide comfort when fear or worry takes hold during life's more trying moments.
Kind words often help in this situation, the Psalms tell us. In Psalm 34:4 the songwriter says that a worried heart can weigh a man down, but a kind word will cheer him. Sometimes, a kind word to a stranger to brighten their day, or a word of encouragement from a friend is all that is needed to raise the spirits.
St. Peter taught that for those who demonstrate humility in the presence of God, He would notice their suffering and relieve it in due time. So it seems that being humble is a definitive key to receiving release from a troubled spirit and mind. Peter taught this often, despite having many reasons to worry himself.
Trust is another key to relieving stress. The Proverbs say in chapter 3:5-8 to trust in the Lord and beware of leaning on subjective, personal understanding. It instructs the reader to acknowledge God in every way, and He will direct them down the correct path.
Even more troublesome than Peter's problem was the plight of Paul the apostle when he wrote to the Philippians. He told them that God had given him strength to do all things. Paul wrote this letter while in prison, possibly mere days away from execution.

They are given to those who believe in so many different situations, that it would be nearly impossible not to find one that could help the reader endure difficult, worry-ridden situations in their own lives.
