According to Christianity, there definitely will be a life after death. They believe that there are only two choices of the afterlife which is either Heaven or Hell. Where one would go depends on whether he has chosen to believe in the Savior or not. The only road to salvation and to Heaven would be to accept Christ as Lord and put all faith in him. Before having faith in a certain concept, it is best to know more about it. The best place to gain such knowledge would obviously be in the Bible. The Bible has everything that one would need to know about Christ and Christianity. It also contains the origin of the world and how God created the people who are living in it.
Of course the first step to salvation is acceptance. If one would want to be saved by Christ, he has to believe that the Savior exists first. The problem with most people is that they will refuse to believe in anything unless they can see it. However, one has to accept that there are things that are out of the scope of human intelligence and just require faith.
Believing in the Lord also means believing in sin and the evils of the world. In order to follow Jesus, one must accept the fact that faith is the only way to by led away from evil and reach salvation. It is only through this that he will be enlightened.
Of course after believing in the Lord, there must be a way to get closer to him. There is only one way to communicate with God and that is through saying prayers. By doing this, one is already creating a special relationship and a tight bond with the Lord.
The last step would be for one to confess to God all his of sins and of course apologize. If believing is half of the journey to salvation, then confessing to God would be the next. Just think of God as a father figure. He is not going to save anyone unless they come to him first because he gave mankind a free hand on how they would want to live their lives.
By doing these simple things, one will actually already be saved. After developing a close bond with God, he will naturally be able to lead a life of good. Though there will be times that he will be tempted to do evil deeds, he cannot stray too far if his foundation is very strong.
