I was pleased to hear that my sister was going to have twins, and I told her that I would do whatever I could to help, which evidently meant that I had to hunt down a christening gown and while it was tough, I pulled through and did a good job. Even though she was having twins, they were fraternal and only one of them was going to be female, so my gown finding jobs were narrowed down to my only finding one gown and I was told that the boy's clothes would be handled by my other sister.
Since both outfits would be white, there was no need to me to find a match in terms of lace or other frills, although I hoped he wouldn't be in something overly frilly. In my mind's eye, I could see myself wandering into a delightful little shop all tucked away somewhere where the only thing that they sold was a christening gown that would be perfect and of course, this was not what happened, and I felt like a fool for thinking it.
I'll admit that I was a bit bummed out as I made my way home, where I sat down at my computer and began hunting for the gown that would knock everyone's socks off at the Christening, but I didn't think it would really happen. The twins were born with all of the typical fanfare, and I was able to see them the day after they were born, which simply made my day and it was all I could do not to take them home and snuggle them for hours and hours.
