The decision of becoming a missionary can be a hard one especially if you have a family that depends upon you. Every missionary would be pleased to have a family that supports his activities and feels proud about it. A close knit family can be the reason for the success of a missionary devoted to world missions (http://www.overlandmissions.com/expeditions/article/summer-mission-short-term-mission-trips-christian-missions-trips/) . You have got to make sure your spouse and youngsters catch your vision and take part in the worthy cause of serving.
Select the mission that you would like to take part in and associate to only that group whose mission you can fully support. Take some time and do a good research on the activities the mission is involved with. Check whether you can sustain long in the group and that your visions align to the mission.
Actively involve yourself in more local groups that are within the local limits. Introduce your family to the organisation and its motives. The group might be associated to a church, community centre or any other nonprofit organization. Your family will get an opportunity to be involved in the activities you are actively participating in. It might be a definite delight if your spouse and children are snug in the group.
Now continuously talk with your folks about your future plans with the missionary group. Since these are life changing choices, your folks must be equally involved in it. Your folks must be similarly into it with you. Decide how to take things forward along with the responsibilities of the family.
Once you've come to a general agreement with the family, submit your applications at the group. Fill the essential forms and documents required for taking up the duties. For overseas missions get your passport and visa ready for easy travel. While your folks and you embark on the mission, make sure that the things you leave behind at home are secure and taken care of.
