The next procedure involves folding the two edges of the flag into two and then pinning them in place. These ensure that pockets are made for hanging of banner or flag. If it is a flag, only one pocket is needed. However, for a banner, you will require two pockets, one on either side. Finally, the seam is sewn by using a sewing machine.
Determine whether the design should be glued or sewn on the fabric. When using felt, it is advisable to glue it. However, when another fabric is being used, then sewing is your best option, the reason being that glue can percolate through the less thick fabrics. This may in turn ruin the look of your flag.
Give it time to dry if the design was glued. After drying, the dowel rods will be slipped inside the pockets. Adding some stitches is necessary for ensuring that the flag or the banner fits snugly in the dowel rod. For a firmly secured flag, stitching should be done on the lower and upper parts of your banner.
